back in jogja

Sarawak! oh i miss home. havent been home for five months.

Suddenly, my 5 days holidays are gone. And i find myself in Surabaya airport with 15 others of sama kepala people. =)
Evacuation, part 2

Going to the airport on a bus.

Kinda packed but nobody minded cos too excited dy.

At the airport, these are the first 120 people who are leaving on the first plane.

Have to write name. Juniors busy calling papa n mama.

En.Junaedy arrived. HooHaa atmosphere...

Tentera! So cool. There's just something about their uniform that makes u go WOW.

Red carpet to go home.

See the plane? Army plane! woohoooo! dream come true!

I had wished for merapi to erupt, msia to send army plane and we evacuate, since i was in first year!
evacuation on 7th nov 2010, part one
in Solo, we stayed at a five star hostel. the toilet door transparent, u can see SOMEONE showering inside. hahahahaha!!!
Diane wearing the same shirt for two days cos she never pack extra baju in her evacuation bag.

Carine packing her stuffs. There are 5 beds, one fan and one toilet for the six of us. Not too shabby.

The place we stayed in is called Wisma Seni, so they haf this old man sitting at the lobby.

To go back Msia or not to? Everyone feeling confused.

Except for Carine who goes straight to dreamland to meet Wai Kit.

Since no one layan me i just take pictures of the lobby to entertain myself.

leaving Jogja
it makes my blood boil to see some people writing provocative things in facebook.
the decision to leave Jogja and return back to Malaysia was not one that was made easily. we all struggled and swayed between decisions for a few days. its easy for juniors cos they are forced to come back to msia. for us seniors who are doing our clinical rotation, we are not forced to come back nor forced to stay-we are left to our own devices.
many were forced to come back msia by their parents. my housemate had been on the phone, having a yellling match with her family for two days. she wanted to stay in jogja but her parents wanted her back in Msia. her brother told her - 'goodbye. i guess the next time i talk to u is when ur body is cold in a coffin n mom is crying, carrying it back to msia.' That was how forceful most families were in forcing their own member to return to Msia.
if you want to stay on in Jogja, that is your choice. why do you condemn others for choosing otherwise? we do not condemn you to die in Jogja. we are actually praying for your safety. so why act all high and mighty?
why act like you are so noble and all that shit? you are a koas. i am a koas. many others are koas. we know how life is like for koas. juniors and the public doesnt know how life is like for koas so they would probably fall for the trick where u act like you're damn noble, saving lives. BUT hear me when i say i know. clean burn wounds, LOL. i was in the emergency ward during the friday 5 nov eruption. i know wad u mean by clean wound. pour saline on the wound and put 'salep', then wrap bandage around it. and if a massive injury enters, u get to OPEN THE BANDAGE WRAPPER while the residents do the whole CPR, intubation, etc.
even if u do get to do CPR and intubation and setting the infuse line and drawing blood and catheterizing patients, dont you realise that those are the things you get to do when you are in an outstation hospital? if u wan to chase after competency, just jaga more in the emergency ward when you are in an outstation hospital. you'll even get to sew patients up and what not.
and remember what the specialists said before - what is the difference in sardjito hospital if there is koas and there is no koas? (if u've been in internal medicine, u kno d answer-NO DIFFERENCE)
there are also others who stayed back in Jogja because they are going outstation hospitals. they are actually in Banyumas or Cilacap or Banjarnegara, places that are nearer Bandung than Jogja. so yes, everything i just said does not apply to those minority who are outstation. and also the 2005 batch who are leaving Jogja for good (finished their clinical rotation), they've already booked their tickets for tues/weds/some day this week.
i heard it rained and the sky is clear, Amen. we've inhaled enough volcanic dust for a lifetime. that dust is another reason most ppl evacuate cos nobody knows what harm the dust can do to the human body. the past one week i was in Jogja, d dust was thicker than the air and there wasnt much rain.
Can u predict where the wind blows next? when the mountain erupts next? if nothing happens to you, thank God, our prayers are answered. But if something happens to you, think about this-your parents spent 20 over years bringing u up and YOU are their lifetime investment. instead of joining the overcrowded sardjito hospital which is overflowing with residents, why not save yourself for your parents? they need u more when they grow old and their vision becomes less than perfect. Thats how i think and its up to you what you want to think.
Its up to you to choose wad u want to do. just stop condemning people who return to Msia. stop making urself sound so noble for staying and making us out to be something we're not for leaving.

skin deep
i spent one and a half hours being grabbed by a lady who had severe 3rd degree burn injuries. they were changing her dressing. it has been a year since the burn incident occur yet the wounds are still that bad. her burns happened because there was a gas leak at her workplace and when she turned on the stove, there was an explosion. her ex-boss paid for her hospitalization fees for a while but later stopped, so her family have to pay for her medical expenses now.
she screamed and twisted my arm and grabbed it real hard. after an hour, i couldnt feel my fingers dy. the next burn patient that came in, i made sure i stay faaar away. haha!
anyway, beauty is really skin deep. i hate my skin for the amount of scars it contains (1 cent and 5 cents and 10 cents) but when i see these burn victims, i realise how lucky i am and how stupid i am to be dissatisfied with my skin. seriously, dying is easy but surviving is hard. i salute those who suffer such major burn wounds and can still smile at the end of the day.
