Max on Life

i first heard of the name Max Lucado from a fellow friend. this is the second book of his that i've read, and i've gotta say it's pretty interesting.

in this book, Max answers simple, basic questions that a Christian gets from day-to-day. i love the simple, short answers he gives that hits straight to the point. for instance, a few days ago, i was asked by a non-Christian why i believe Jesus resurrected. The person said, anything could've happened, Jesus' body could have been taken by people who wanted to make his death mysterious. And i was at a blank on what to answer. Until i read this book today. =) Do you want to know the answer to that question? Read this book! (i'm not gonna spoil the surprise)

I review for BookSneeze®

i got luckies

Which guy on earth will draw such a cute pig for his girlfriend? Ladies and gentleman, i present to you, John Lim!

The reason our relationship survives the long distance, my hot temper and busy schedule is his unending patience. My gosh, he's gotta be the most patient person around, next to my mom.

I love how he doesnt flare up even when i snap at him, the way he say such silly things tells me that he's madly in love with me (of course me) and how he actually grew closer to God in such a short time.

So yeah, i hit the jackpot. To all the single ladies out there, i pray that you'll get a guy who makes you as happy as John does to me! =)

RS Soeradji Tirtonegoro

It's heart wrenching to see poverty eating away at people's lives.

In the emergency ward a few days ago, in the wee hours of the morning, a 2 months old baby was rushed in by his parents and grandmother. The baby was in respiratory distress-no cyanosis but his respiratory rate was 106x/minute, substernal retraction and wheezing. He was also feverish with a temperature of 39 celcius. Poor baby had pnuemonia. We put him on a headbox and told his parents he needs to be admitted into the intensive care ward. We told his parents that each day would cost around 2 million Rp. His dad immediately gave up and insisted on bringing the baby back home. His crying mom and grandmother had no choice but to obey, because they know they cant afford the hospital fees. Poor thing, he is just going home to his death. Unless a miracle happens and his pneumonia magically disappears.

Then yesterday, we referred a 2 year old patient with hepatomegaly and cholestasis to the bigger hospital in Jogja. The mother is a single parents, the husband bailed on them a year ago. We could not diagnose the cause of the hepatomegaly and cholestasis even though he's been admitted for 4 days. The mom was crying because she know she can't afford to pay the hospital bills once her son is admitted into the hospital in Jogja, but she's just going there by faith, and praying hard God will give her a financial solution.

In these two cases, i really saw what it means to be a parent. The decision both parents made were totally different, one wanted to save her son no matter what and the other gave up the moment he knew the price he had to pay. But still, can you imagine what it's like to be in their shoes? I cant and i pray i never have to. I just thank God Malaysia provides it's citizens with free medical services. So no matter how much we complain about our country, sometimes we should realise there's also a lot to be thankful for.
